Privacy Policy
Effective September 25, 2026
Nectar (nectar.day) is a free, ad-supported AI chat. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it — in plain language, because you should not need a law degree to use a chat app.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not see your Google password and cannot access anything else in your Google account. During sign-up we also run a bot check (Google reCAPTCHA), which sends Google some technical and behavioral signals from your browser.
Your chats and files. Messages you send, files you upload, and the responses you receive are stored so your history works. Chats are private to your account unless you turn on a share link. If you ask Nectar to run code or generate a file (for example, a chart or a PDF), that code runs in an isolated sandbox we operate — it is not shared outside Nectar.
Usage data and analytics. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and product analytics (PostHog) that help us understand feature usage and keep Nectar fast and free. We also use Sentry to capture technical error reports (crashes, broken requests) so we can fix bugs — these reports are about the app's behavior, not the content of your chats.
How your data is used
To run the product: your messages are sent to our AI model provider to generate responses, under terms that prohibit training on your data.
To keep it free: Nectar shows ads served by our advertising partners (currently Gravity and Koah). To pick a relevant ad, the text of your question — and sometimes the AI's answer — is sent to whichever partner is serving that ad. We do not sell your personal information, and advertisers do not receive your name, your email address in plain text, your chat history beyond the single turn being shown an ad, or your files.
One exception, so we are not overclaiming: for signed-in users, Gravity (only) also receives a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address, together with an anonymous session identifier. A hash cannot be reversed back into your email address by Gravity — it is used industry-wide for ad measurement (confirming a real person saw an ad, and preventing the same ad from repeating) rather than for identifying who you are. Questions about this? Email support@nectar.day.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not train AI models on your conversations. We do not give advertisers your name, plain-text email address, full chat history, or files.
Retention and deletion
Your chats stay until you delete them (Settings → General → Delete All Chats). To delete your entire account and its data, email support@nectar.day and we will remove it.
Age
Nectar is for users 13 and older.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will note it in the changelog and update the date above.
